LBSU Blog Week 1

I am a mother of a beautiful 14 month old boy whose name is Lucas. I have been going to school for quite a while I already have my Associates in Social and Behavioral Sciences from a different school.  I am attending Brandman to obtain my Bachelors in Social Sciences to become a elementary school teacher. This is my first fall class I took a couple of classes this past Summer.

I have worked with preschool children before and loved teaching them and with the way the education system is right now I think that focusing on the younger children and guiding them the right way will help the future of their education.

There are couple things I do need to work on and its mainly focusing on how I evaluate things I am reading and more how libraries categorize the books in their system.

  1. Hello Stephanie,
I too find that research, and evaluation the research is a challenging task. Finding relevant and credible references is an on-going task. In chapter one of our text we learned that “not all information is informative” (Badke, 2012). One of the first steps is to have a working knowledge of the reference material. Badke (2012) refers to having a working knowledge of a subject by being able to talk about it for one minute without repeating yourself.
Remember, the age old questions when conducting research; who, what, why, when and where (Badke, 2012). The answers from these questions may give you the working knowledge that in the long run may help you evaluate the references you choose for your research.
    Just my thought…
